WHY ARE RICH AND/OR BEAUTIFUL CUSTOMERS TREATED BETTER BY BUSINESS OWNERS THAN THE POOR ONES?

Take a guess!
It doesn’t matter if it is a bank or any business.
First: A good customer is always treated better than a bothersome tire kicker. [Beautiful I will get to next.]
I sell a few of my books online now and then. I have one lady customer who insists upon being notified first so she can buy anything and everything I write. She already has a complete collection of all books, articles, reports and Answers I ever put in print or on digital. Naturally, I give her freebies including unpublished stuff. Why? Because she is my best customer! She can have any favor I can give, plus free consulting that I’d charge $1,000 for to some stranger.
Don’t you think I should treat her better and with more respect than the unknown person who is asking for freebies by telling me how poor they are? Too many people want to tell me why I should give them all my reports for free, plus cash handouts or ”loans” that I know would never be repaid?
Next:
If one happens to be rich, but is a lousy customer, that fact is known . Generally, they will be treated like all the other freeloaders. How? Polite, but no special red carpet. Why would anyone think differently? Of course a good customer is treated better than someone who is just a bother or troublemaker.
Want to be treated like a millionaire? In my vintage book, Think Like A Tycoon, I expounded upon the “small gift rule.” The short free version of the “small gift rule” is here!
If a teller, loan officer or salesman knows they will get something cute and free (even if it is only a key-chain or mini-bottle of booze) ever time they encounter you, you will be treated as well—or better than a rich client.
That may be the best tip you get today! Memorize the Taradash Small Gift Rule above.
BEAUTIFUL?
Another category of person who is treated better (by men anyway) is an exceptionally beautiful young woman. In my bad old days (long ago as I am 80 + now) I once dated an A+ #10, in fact she was an AAAAA+.
We went to a famous ice cream parlor and ordered banana splits – the most expensive item on the menu. The (male) waiter insisted upon sitting us in the window facing the street. He then served us an exceptionally fancy ice cream. I would say it was double normal size- with extra whipped cream and cherries.
When, an hour later, I asked for the check, the waiter said “It’s on the House!” I never look a gift horse in the mouth, so I left a tip and departed in a hurry. After we got back to my house I asked the gorgeous blond, blue eyed girl if she knew the owner or something. I will never forget what she told me : “When you are as blessed and lucky as I am in the looks department, classy places always give you the most desirable table to show you off. More often than not, whatever you order is complementary.”
That experience was a good lesson for me. I always understood that life wasn’t fair, but now I knew that all really good business people know how to use their customers to good advantage. A restaurant owner takes a picture of any celebrities who come in and frames it on the wall. They give freebies to get return visits from people like my one-time girlfriend. Why? Simple! To attract passers by who otherwise would not come in.
Of course they are extra-nice to wealthy good customers because —besides the profits and good business they bring in— they are also likely to bring in their wealthy friends who will also be good customers.
Everybody in business knows that 80 to 90% of their profits are generated by the top 10% of their customers. So what should you do if you are running a bank? Be nicer to the freeloaders who demand more and contribute less —-OR: Be nicer to your best customers? Welcome to the real world.
