If you start at the Blackjack table with a $1 chip, and you bet it, the most you can make is $1. You have a better than 50/50 chance of losing it all.
If you start with a $50,000 pile of chips, you can bet a lot more and win more or lose more. But it will be a lot harder to lose it all especially if the table bet limit is below $50,000.
If you are a famous actor or politician, people know your name. Of course it is easier to get more acting parts — or be re-elected as a politician.
If you are half way up climbing Mont Everest, or any mountain, you are better off than starting at the bottom.
